Benefits of Personal Training

10/24/2022 9:25:00 PM

Is personal training right for you? Here are some key benefits of Personal Training that may be what you need to get started or advance your fitness journey.

Assists in Achieving Your Specific Goals

Starting your fitness journey can be a complicated task. We aren't born with the knowledge of how to perform specific exercises or plan a balanced fitness routine that checks all of the boxes for the outcomes we're chasing. Trainers study for years to solidify their fundamental knowledge of how the human body works and how to train it optimally. Nobody's goals are exactly the same, so following someone else's routine that you found online may take you down a path you may not be necessary for your journey. If you aren't sure where to start, or are just looking for advice, having someone to guide you in the right direction can make all the difference.

Provides Clarity and Structure to Your Exercise Routine

Trainers are helpful in providing a clearer structure to your routine in many ways:
  • Laying out a routine that works for your current fitness level, schedule, and available equipment
  • Determining which exercises to focus on, and which ones aren't helping
  • Knowing how hard you should be pushing yourself and helping you monitor intensity so you don't overdo it
  • Planning "progressive overload", a key to making sure your workouts don't become stagnant

Teaches Proper Form and Correct Training Techniques

One of the most intimidating things about first starting out after making it to the gym and starting your routine, is the question of "Am I doing this exercise right?". There's nothing more demotivating than leaving the gym feeling like you just spent an hour doing exercises improperly. Exercising isn't always intuitive when you first start out, and if you haven't spent much time studying proper technique, you may not see results as quick as you might like, or you may even injure yourself if training incorrectly. Personal trainers are there to make sure each exercise you perform, is done to its best possible level. Once you know how proper form works, the next time you hit the gym on your own, you can be confident knowing you are aren't wasting any time.

Boosts Confidence in the Gym and Everyday Life

Everyone benefits from having someone in their corner. Having an expert there to aid you in setting achievable goals, planning your routine, and ensuring proper technique is key to making sure you don't give up. Motivation comes from all kinds of places, both internally and externally. External motivation from a trainer can help keep you accountable and committed, and knowing that your fitness is being invested in by another person might play an essential role in keeping you coming back to the gym.
